Let's face it folks. The "Good Ol USA" was a colony of England for quite some time until some Independent thinking Americans came to the conclusion that they could do very well indeed by themselves and without British Rule over their heads.
Thus the American Revolutionary War and we all know how that story ended.
Between you and me, the USA would probably still be under English rule had the person been fighting on the British side been Sir Winston Churchill or some similar military genius and hero. But such was not the case and geographically it was too hard to maintain an all out war effort considering that everything had to be shipped from England to the USA by boat.
But I am certainly glad that we are allies and friends as there isn't a braver "bloke" than a Brit and we make an excellent team.
So here's my theory as to why Country Music isn't as popular in England. It's because country music represents Independence and Independent thinking probably more than any other medium of music. And there may be some latent resentment to the fact that the USA isn't a British colony anymore.
That's my thought anyway.
So here's some British Country Music Groups and English "Alternative" Country Groups. Some of these groups may be older or no longer in existence.
If some of you readers would like to contribute your own list of good English country music performers, there's an invitation at the bottom of this page which will allow you to do so.
I'm sure there are numerous other British Country Music Groups and we'd like to hear from you about some if not all of them.
