Garth Brooks has been on the scene for awhile now. Being born on Feb 7, 1962 he would be considered one of the older contemporary Country Music Performers. But this only goes to prove that "Old Dogs CAN AND DO learn new tricks"...lol.
This was a brilliant idea on Garth Brooks part because in essence he literally doubled his base of fans by including 2 genres of music into the main format of Country Music. As of September 23, 2016, Brooks is the only artist in history to have released seven albums that achieved Diamond status in the U.S., those being "Garth Brooks" (10× platinum), "No Fences" (17× platinum), "Ropin' The Wind" 14× platinum), "The Hits" (10× platinum), "Sevens" (10× platinum), "Double Live" (21× platinum), and "The Ultimate Hits" (10× platinum).
Due to being a family man and conflicts between his Loyalty to his family and performing, Garth Brooks had a relatively long self imposed retirement from the live musical scene and from recording from 2001-2009. But don't feel bad for him. During that time he sold millions of albums through Walmart which he signed an exclusive distribution deal and he did record a couple of new singles through that time. The "Ol Boy" wasn't hurting financially.
Garth Brooks was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 21, 2012.He was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011.
