In the early '70's, a song called "Spring"

by Sam
(Somerset, KY)

A male singer sang the song about Spring

"....in a broken down apartment house,
a woman lay dying,
by her side her little girl
softly was crying.
Said Mama don't go away
and leave me alone
I bought this on a 45, but now I can't find it anywhere.

Spring Songwriter NEW

I think it was Johnny Tipton, and I don't believe it is available in any format except 45 single. Too bad too - that original recording (I think 1969) was amazing and heart breakingly emotional.

I am also looking for the original male singer of this song. My mom had a 45 with this song on it and it has been misplaced. I have searched under everything I know to search under and I can't find who the male singer was. Thanks!

Try Tompall and the Glaser Brothers.
by: Robert at top country

Also, Tanya Tucker released it later in the seventies. Not sure of the exact year. Here's the embedded youtube video.

They wrote in the comments of the video that Tompall and the Glaser Brothers did this one in 1970.

P.S. Sam, I just saw your recent comment, thanks...

"Spring"

There was a female singer with the song "Spring". This would be Tanya Tucker. The songwriter, I believe, was Johnny Tipton. I would like to find the original version by a male singer.
