While serving in SE Asia in a SOG we often played country music. I had a copy of Tex's Deck of Cards and played it one evening while we were being relieved. A minister was in our group and he had never heard the song.before. After listening he said that if God let him live to get out of here that he was going to use Tex's song for a sermon at a church in Sumpter SC. Years later I received a letter from the minister and he said that he would be preaching on salvation,using Tex's Deck Of Cards as a reference to the Bible. I went to the good SGT's sermon and there wasn't a dry eye in the congregation and a number of soldiers gave their life to God.
