Clearly, the top country song of all time. There is no second place and third place is probably 'Lovesick Blues'

Hank Williams' legacy from his short-lived 29 years on this earth, is still the King of Country Music. His output over a short 8 year time span dwsrfs the career accomplishments of all the great country music stars who have followed in his footsteps over the years. Mention should be made here, also, of The Drifting Cowboys, his band.

If I had to rank a number two on the list, it would have to be Merle Haggard and the Strangers.....at their peak in the 80's and into the 90's, Hag had veterans of Bob Wills' Texas Playboys as part of this band and some of the music they released during the period was music at its finest, and that covers all music not just country music.

We need to take country music back again, much like Dwight Yoakam did some 10-15 years ago....the 'country music' stations today are playing too much country rock nonsense with too little twin fiddles and steel guitar.
